Why I Started This Blog
After devouring countless romance novels, I've found that discovering truly captivating reads can be as challenging as finding a needle in a haystack. While platforms like TikTok's "BookTok" initially offered great recommendations, they've become as reliable as a broken clock.
That's why I created this blog—to help you avoid the literary equivalent of a bad blind date and instead introduce you to books that are worth your time. Of course, chemistry varies, so I'll provide detailed reviews to help you decide if a book is your type.
Why I Love Romance
I've been a hopeless romantic since I first scribbled about crushes in my diary at age ten. My all-time favorite movie is Dirty Dancing, which probably tells you a lot about me, including my age. Despite my early inclinations, I spent years immersed in high literature, fantasy, and science fiction, unaware of the vast and varied world of romance novels.
Admittedly, I once viewed romance novels through the lens of common stigmas—thinking of them as guilty pleasures or not "serious" literature. But then I discovered beautifully written, intelligent, and emotionally powerful romances that evoke a deep sense of longing.
I'm drawn to heroines who grow and evolve throughout their journeys. You won't find bullying, rape, or non-consensual sex tropes here.. I also steer clear of the age-gap trope, since it feels one-sided and rooted in patriarchal norms. No judgment at all!! if you enjoy those narratives; they're just not my cup of tea, so they will not be reviewed in this blog.
That said, I appreciate a wide range of subgenres romance. Whether it's fantasy, regency, contemporary, paranormal etc. If the writing and storytelling are solid, I'm all in. What keeps me turning the pages is the combination of great writing, strong character development, and an engaging story.
My Journey
Three years ago, I moved to the U.S., and for the first time since the age of fourteen, I didn't work. It was surreal initially and very emotional, as my career had played a huge role in my life and self-perception. With all this free time on my hands, I sat down and wrote my first romance book!
